Seeing is Believing

Today, I attended a spiritual gathering at a friend’s place.  We took turns reading and commenting on Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, which tells the story of Krishna’s life from Srimad-Bhagavatam, the summit of the ancient Vedas from India.  I was able to listen and speak about the power of belief and learn how powerful believing is in one’s relationship with God.

By association with like-minded people, one is not only more inclined to feel safe about sharing their beliefs, but they will also increase the benefit derived from believing in the first place.  Be it singing, reading, or simply socialising in any way with those who share our beliefs will solidify the strength of those beliefs in us.  This manifests itself through seeing others’ shared attraction to the same beliefs.  It acts as an affirmation, only this time it doesn’t come from us, but from those in our company.  Our perception of this increases our desire to participate in the beliefs.  Truly, seeing becomes believing.
